Tobin was originally thought to have survived the bus collision, but a Saskatchewan coroner confirmed Monday he had been misidentified.

Throughout the week, tributes have been pouring in for the goaltender who loved hockey, supported his teammates and had a great sense of humour.

“Parker was a fine young man who loved hockey and played with passion. He was a team player, a standup guy and an inspiration to his teammates,” the Junior A team Drayton Valley Thunder team said on its website.

Cory Anne Holmlund, whose family billeted Tobin during his stay in Drayton Valley, remembers him as a smart kid with a sense of humour — an avid gamer and a “terrible” dancer who at a moment’s notice would drop everything and help her son with his math homework. “He was just an all-around great kid,” she said.

Logan Schatz, the 20-year-old captain of the Broncos, had a penchant for sporting bow ties on game day.

“He was the captain on just about every team he ever played on,” his father Kelly told Postmedia News last week. “He was just an outgoing kid; everyone respected him.”

He was the youngest of five children.

Allan School’s sign last week read “In Loving Memory of Logan Schatz — Humboldt Strong.”

Flags outside the church and town office were at half staff, in honour of the young man and 15 of his fellow players and team support staff.
